Shout about Success
Responding to demands for greater transparency of charity performance,
Compass offers a service to assist organisations to create honest
and meaningful reports of their overall achievements on their web sites on a regular basis.
Organisations work alone or in groups over a twelve month period to define what success means for them, to
determine how it should be reported and to gather the required information across the whole
organisation in a regular and systematic way.
The result is a knowledge management system that can be used to inform Annual Reports and
Reviews, internal performance reports, funding applications and to promote achievements of web sites.

Case Study: Sense
We have worked with the Chairs and Chief Executives of Sense on strategy, performance
and management over the last 20 years, helping it to grow from a small self help organisation to a £50m a year
provider of services to people who are both deaf and blind.
Sometimes we help with the development of their 3 - 5 year strategic plans and sometimes we have worked on management
structures and processes. Currently we are working with senior managers on performance management and how to
articulate the difference they make to peoples' lives.
We only help when needed, so every now and then they call us and we do a project, drawing on our understanding of the organisation's history and development.
It's not just having an external perspective. It's the questions and challenge they bring, that after a few seconds reflection make you realise that there is a different way forward. That takes experience and knowledge of the sector. That's what Mike and Compass have provided.
Richard Brook, Sense.
Assessing Board Performance
We can carry out a systematic assessment of an organisation‘s
Board performance using our exclusive Self Assessment Questionnaire. Tried and tested on a range of many
organisations over years, the assessment covers performance of key governance functions, performance
of the board as a team, individual performance, personal performance feedback from other board members and the
performance of committees.
Assessments usually end with a board workshop to review the results and establish objectives for improving performance.
